Doccle is a digital platform for managing all kinds of documents and payment of invoices. It is used by about 3.5 million individuals and small businesses in Belgium.
With e-invoicing due to become mandatory in Belgium at the start of 2026 for all B2B transactions, Doccle presents freelancers and other small businesses with a simple solution for compliance.
Doccle’s technical architect, Thierry van Ekeren, explains how the platform brings simplicity, security and efficiency to small business administration, and how Flowin helps facilitate key functionality.
Simplifying all business administration
“Keeping on top of business paperwork is a time-consuming task. But Doccle eases the burden by providing a highly secure ‘digital filing cupboard’ for all important documents, such as invoices, contracts and pay slips. Alongside this, Doccle enables receipt and payment of e-invoices. Soon, it will also enable the issuing of e-invoices.”
Secure transfer of documents
“With Doccle, business owners can easily receive e-invoices and other documents, securely store them in one place, and share them with their accountants. This saves time and assists clear, efficient administration, so entrepreneurs can focus on their core activities.
“In order for this to work between all parties, we took an omnichannel approach which allows everyone to communicate, whether or not they are each directly connected to Peppol. So, Peppol is the default channel, but Doccle has a fallback mechanism to connect via other suitable channels as and when necessary. This way, every business associate or customer can be reached via Doccle, even if they are not yet registered on the Peppol network.”

Flowin sped up Doccle’s development
“Using Flowin for Doccle’s connection into the Peppol network significantly shortened our development time. Flowin’s clear API meant we could focus on optimising Doccle’s user experience, rather than spending time on figuring out how to connect with Peppol and meeting all the associated obligations.
“The integration went very smoothly, with active communication between Flowin and Doccle throughout the process. This ensured any questions or issues were quickly resolved together.”

Awareness of legislation still lacking among freelancers
Doccle’s fast development means the company also has more time to educate potential users about the need for a simple e-invoicing solution. Thierry: “We notice that many freelancers are still not fully aware of the new legislation and the impact it will have on their business. We now have the opportunity to guide them step-by-step through the process, helping them transition to a more efficient way of invoicing, without having to navigate the complexities.”
